Travel Protection Plan Frequently Asked Questions
If I have travel insurance, why do I need CAP? I’m already covered by my insurance, right?
CAP travel protection plans are designed to fill in the gaps that exist in international travel health insurance plans. Besides having loads of exclusions, travel insurance companies require a “loss” or qualifying event, such as “bodily harm or injury,” before they’ll consider any reimbursement.
Unlike travel insurance companies, CAP travel protection plans include threats, giving you immediate access to your benefits (i.e. medical benefits, travel security benefits, and comprehensive emergency response) before an actual “loss” or “bodily harm or injury” occurs.
With the flat-fee CAP travel protection plans, your medical and security assistance is available on demand, which means you won’t have to worry about paying out of pocket to get help, or going through a cumbersome, time-consuming claim filing and reimbursement process.
CAP travel protection plans are great as a standalone travel assistance plan or may be used to supplement your existing health and travel insurance policy.
May I buy a CAP plan for a friend or relative?
Yes. As long as you have the necessary information, you can purchase a CAP travel protection plan for your friend and relatives, no matter their age.
May I purchase CAP for my children, spouse, or parents?
Yes. As long as you have the necessary information, you can purchase CAP travel protection plans for children, your spouse, parents, or other family members.
When do my plan benefits kick in?
Your CAP protection plan benefits begin on your first day of travel.
What country do I add as my primary destination if I’m visiting several countries?
You don’t need to list a primary destination. If you’re planning a trip with multiple destinations, just let us know all the countries you’ll be visiting during your travels. Your CAP protection plan is designed to cover the entirety of your planned trip.
Can I get my money back if I cancel my trip?
Yes! You can cancel for any reason. Plans change, which is why our money-back cancellation policy allows you to cancel your protection any time before you travel.

If I test positive for COVID-19 while abroad, does CAP cover the cost of my extended stay?
What if my traveling companions test positive and they don’t have CAP?
If there’s a pandemic outbreak, such as COVID-19, CAP protection plans include hospital-to-hospital transfers (to get CAP customers home) as well as 14 days of quarantine expenses.
If a CAP customer has a traveling companion that doesn’t have a CAP protection plan and tests positive for COVID, we’ll be pleased to help on a fee-for-service basis.

Is CAP a travel insurance plan?
CAP isn’t insurance, it’s a fully funded service guarantee. There are no claim forms, service fees or deductibles, reimbursement documents, or subrogation process.
Unlike travel insurance, if something goes wrong and you need medical or security assistance during your trip (including evacuation support), we’ll cover the costs and pay the travel assistance bills upfront (so our customers don’t have to).
How do I purchase CAP?
CAP can be conveniently purchased online with a few quick, easy steps. Start the process with a Quick Quote. You’ll be asked to select when you’re leaving, where you’re going, the type of travel you’re doing, add your contact details, and check out. That’s all.
